AVX and AVX2 under emulation
Prism now exposes AVX, AVX2, BMI, FMA and F16C to x64 apps
Some apps and games refuse to start unless the processor reports AVX or AVX2. A Prism update that reached every Arm PC on Windows 11 24H2 or later in late 2025 adds those instruction sets, removing one of the last common “unsupported CPU” errors.
Key points
-
More software installs
Titles that checked for AVX during setup — Ableton Live 12 was Microsoft's own example — now install and run.
-
On for 64-bit apps
The new extensions are enabled by default for x64 code. 32-bit apps can opt in through their Compatibility settings.
-
Not a speed-up
Vector code is still translated. Heavy AVX workloads run, but a native Arm64 build remains faster.
